Why study a sports massage course?

Just imagine you are a qualified massage therapist, lots of happy clients and business is doing well although there is always room for more customers. And then one day you have a client like this…

A 30 year old Rugby Player.

Big guy ;-) But with a bad pain in his right Knee
He really wants you to help him.

What do you do?

Do you turn him away? Frustrating huh? Because without the right training, you may feel inadequate and just have to say you can’t help.

But there is an answer to this dilemma!

When you study sports massage with us, you will be 100% in control.

Here’s why…

Because you will be able to:

  • Palpate the patella looking for inflammation (i.e. heat).
  • Observe the area for possible swelling.
  • Apply the Appley’s Test to test for a collateral ligament sprain or tear.
  • Apply the Lachman’s Test to test for a cruciate ligament sprain or tear.
  • Apply the Macmurray’s or Appley’s Compression Tests to test for meniscal tears.

Huh? Does that all sound like Latin to you?

Well, after just 15 days of training all this will make perfect sense to you.

You will be as confident using these tests as Gordon Ramsey is whipping up a gourmet meal in 3 minutes flat!

And when you know what’s wrong, you may treat the injury using a massage to quads, hamstrings, calf and patella to reduce swelling and fluid in the area.

The severity of the injury would of course also dictate the depth of the tissue work.

Easy right?

And there is more…

You would also be able to give home care advice.

You may give advice on how he can strengthen the leg muscle, the stretches he should apply and possibly how he should strap the area to protect it in future.

Isn’t it easy when you know how?

And guess what…

All the techniques you learn will apply to Joe Public who has twisted their ankle tripping down a stair or Joanne Public who has some RSI.

It’s not only for sports injuries. It applies to other injuries too!

Call us to find out more about the course on 0845 1080088. Ask for Julie who has studied our sports course and is using her skills in her massage practice.
